Colombia: Its environmental issues.
In recent decades, environmental problems have become complex scenarios from which countless reflections unfold on the circumstances facing modern society. According to the United Nations Environment Program (UNEP), environmental problems are triggered mainly by human population growth and economic development (UNEP 2012). Colombia is not alien to this reality. Despite being considered the second country with the highest biodiversity within the fourteen countries with the highest index (Andrade 2011) and one of the richest in terms of water availability (OECD 2014), it faces intense processes of environmental deterioration that affect the physicochemical quality of the environment.
